New string quartet celebrates Illinois farms.

My hometown is surrounded on all sides by some of the best farmland in the world. It is the ever-changing scenic backdrop of the community. For farming families, the landscape is full of depth, wisdom, and texture. Every time I return for a visit, the haunting wide open spaces moving through their annual cycles awe and inspire me.
My father still works on the farm he grew up on. The farm that his father grew up on. Growing up, I worked on the farm during the summers. Our family schedule would change with the seasons. I was never going to be a farmer, but this connection gets stronger every year.
So I decided to write a string quartet about our family farm, and its annual transformative cycles. Each player will be amplified, and run through individual delay pedals. Here is a sneak peek of the first movement - Demeter.
